State National History
Day Contest
Twenty-five 8th and 9th grade students from South
Valley Junior High and Liberty Junior High competed in the State National
History Day Contest held at the University of Missouri-Columbia on Saturday,
April 14. There were over 300 entries from over 100 schools represented at
the contest. These students are taught by Debra Slaughter at South
Valley Junior High and Inga Nordstrom-Kelly at Liberty Junior High.

National Geography Bee
Qualifier
7th grade student Danny Alvey has qualified to represent SVMS at the
state level of the National Geography Bee. After winning the school bee,
Danny took a written exam and earned one of the top 100 scores in the state of
Missouri. The state Bee will be held Friday, March 30, at Columbia
College.
